Director of Tennis, USPTA Certified
Jeff Stassen is the CEO of Baseline Tennis, a company that manages tennis programs throughout the Southeastern Michigan area – including the widely admired and highly successful tennis program at the Dearborn Racquet & Health Club. He is a U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) Beyer Award winner and member of the Dearborn Recreation Sports Hall of Fame. President of the Dearborn Community Tennis Association, Jeff also serves on the USTA Midwest section Tennis Industry Council Committee.
Tennis Program Coordinator, USPTA Certified
A highly experienced instructor, Grace Menna has been teaching tennis for over 30 years in the Dearborn area. Over this time, she has built a large and loyal following of tennis enthusiasts – largely due to her ability to teach at all levels and her personal mission to “leave no student behind.” Grace plays a pivotal role in the success of tennis at the Dearborn Racquet & Health Club and the popularity of the sport within the community.
Teaching Professional, USPTA Certified
Steve Behmlander brings his enthusiasm and teaching abilities to the Dearborn Racquet & Health Club by the way of the coaching ranks, leading both the Dearborn Devine Child High School Boys and Girls and Dearborn High School Boys programs to the Michigan State High School Tournament Finals in recent years. He is a Member of the Michigan High School Tennis Coaches Association and has been named Regional Coach of the year several times, as well as Catholic League Coach of the year. Steve enjoys working with juniors and adults of all levels.
Teaching Professional, UPTR Certified
Dawn is USPTR certified, and an enthusiast of tennis for all ages having taught tennis for over 20 years with much experience in youth development. She currently shares time between the Dearborn Racquet and Health Club during the indoor season and the Birmingham Athletic Club as Assistant Tennis Director during the outdoor season. She heads up much of the 10 and under programming at both facilities and plays a key role in the execution of the Scott L. King Serving Aces for Sarcoma Tourna ment – the largest in the nation for 10 & Under Tennis. S he serves as the varsity boys’ coach for Livonia Franklin High School and volunteers coaching for the varsity girls’ Livonia Churchill High School. She has a long history of supporting metro Detroit’s Cystic Fibrosis Charity Tennis Tournament. Dawn is proud of her tennis family which include her husband who plays competitive USTA adult tennis and both her daughters who play collegiate tennis for Spring Arbor University and Lawrence Technological University. Dawn is a great ambassador for the game of tennis and is eager to assist anyone who wants to learn how to play!
Catherine has over 30 years of experience teaching tennis in southeastern Michigan. She shares her time at The Dearborn Racquet and Health Club during the indoor season and Plum Hollow Country Club as Tennis Director during the outdoor season. Her playing resume includes two NCAA Division II team championships and All American honors at Wayne State University where she is enshrined in their hall of fame. She is proud of her tennis family which includes a daughter who plays collegiate tennis at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee and her son who plays collegiate tennis at Lawrence Technological University. Catherine enjoy s working with players of all levels and promises her students will not only improve, but have a great time along the way!
Chip’s background consists of having over 20 years of experience in tennis as both a player and teaching professional. He was a two-time all state player at Detroit Catholic Central High School and played Division I tennis for University of Detroit Mercy. As a teaching professional, he has years of experience on the court. He currently is varsity tennis coach for the boys and girls at Allen Park Cabrini High School. Chip enjoys all facets of tennis club program m ing, from adult and youth lessons to tournaments and social tennis events.
A Dearborn native and Edsel Ford graduate, Jesse has been teaching and coaching tennis for the better part of 5 years. His experience includes working at indoor facilities, country clubs, community programs, and as a high school coach. He is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at Wayne State University.
Russ has been instructing for 7 years. He shares his time currently instructing at The DRHC during the indoor season and at OLCC in the summer. He is a 3-time MHSAA Division 1 State Champion (2 doubles twice and 1 singles as a senior). He played 1 year of college tennis at Detroit Mercy before focusing on his continued education in business and philosophy at Wayne State where he is currently a senior. Russ enjoys instructing all ages of tennis, youth and adults.
